There simply aren't words for the people that running brings into your life but simply they are there for a reason and for motivation. Or the feeling you get when you run a trail with amazing women who inspire you to be that runner, mother, wife, hard-working, focused, goal-oriented woman. I had always been a runner since high school but I met a girl, who I went to college with, and saw her working out at the gym (at the college we went to) when I approached her, after having seen the amazing transformation she had done to her physique and we became fast friends. We then began a friendship that has withstood time and never gone away.
This year, I plan on giving Karin a gift she can wear that has a meaning so close to my heart. My dear friend Karin, found a running trip that included all the right things: 1. trail running - 40.2 miles at that!!!!! 2. In Oregon!!!! - along the Rogue River, 3. rafting if you want to, 4. running from cabin to cabin that you will sleep at 5. yummy food, AND 6. great, inspiring WOMAN runners. We signed up and there were four of us, Karin, Tara, Layla, and myself. But God knew what he was doing, he had a woman from Washington sign up as well, who was doing it by herself, and she became an instant into our group. We were led by Padre, the runner, and our rafting guide who would be taking our stuff down on the river while we ran. What an amazing trip!!!!!
I cannot simply put the amazing moments, deep a-ha moments we had while running and talking, not talking, running laying, running, more running, eating, drinking, running and just plain amazing experience we had. This trip is definitely one for my bucket list but one that I only wish I could partake in with these amazing girls each year.
I am truly grateful that she is in my life because she pushes me to be that better woman and to especially lean in. So here's to more 40.2 miles in our lives mi amiga, you definitely inspire me to keep running and just live.
besos,
nina
